During the course of my degree I have developed excellent research and academic writing skills, such as

• knowledge of how to conduct efficient journal searches
• critically evaluating research articles
• report writing
• independent thinking

I have included a sample piece of work which showcases these skills: an academic poster about the use of mnemonic as an aid to long-term memory.

The starting point for this piece was a group experiment in which I participated. Following this, I conducted comprehensive research and compiled my findings in an accurate and informative report. It was important to write the report in a way that would lend itself to the poster design while also including sufficient detail; there was some skill involved in getting this balance right.

To a lesser extent this work required some design skills to address the challenge of getting the relevant information to fit onto the poster in an inviting way. My use of the two column layout together with the contrasting header and background colours sought to address this problem.

The grade I received for this project was a B+
